ABOUT



Andhra University Computer Center was established in 1986. The main objective for establishing computer centre is to provide best computing and research facility to coastal districts in Andhra Pradesh. People from far off places used to utilize the central facility along with the students, scholars and staff of the campus colleges.

Andhra University campus is spread over 450 acres. The computer center provides networking and software services to total University and its campuses. The campus wide area network is for connecting the various departments /admin buildings, hostels etc. The core backbone employs single mode optical fiber connecting various departments. At certain places multi-mode fiber optic cable was used.

In order to meet the requirements of Andhra University, it is proposed to install and commission a state of the art data communication network that will act as an intranet for the entire university campus. In addition, the organization proposes to integrate the applications to facilitate the routine work, payroll system, students database, examination schedules, admissions etc., into this data communication network. Other value added services required are email, Internet, fax service etc. In short, the university proposes to install and commission a state of the art multi service communication network with future expansion in mind.

The vision of the computer centre is to provide complete, latest and cost-effective solution to all IT enabled activities in the University. The solution includes the complete software project management process from requirements analysis to implementation and maintenance. To provide a central computing facility with Network and Servers provision for all the students and staff of the University. A Computing Laboratory is available for Research Scholars to perform his/her tasks. In addition, storage device, e-mail Server, Web Server have been hosted at Computer Centre.

  www.aucoe.info official web portal for Andhra University Online Examination Applications System for all students of university and affiliated colleges. It provides paper- free application system for examinations and also provides various services to students and colleges and examination section staff like exam registration through online, Hall-tickets generations, attendance sheets and Nominal Rolls preparation and different students. The students can pay the examination fee though both online and Bank challans. As of now, 255950 students are registered in this web portal through 693 colleges in 5 districts.

The University provides mail services to all students (both university and affiliated college students), colleges, teaching and non teaching staff in the university. This service provided with collaboration of google. Each person has an official email provided by the computer centre.

DD Cell Computerization

DD Cell is a part of the university which takes the payments through DD’s from students, colleges and others for different services like Original Degree, Affiliation fee, Certificate genuineness verification and etc. It also enables the employees to track the DD’s sent to the bank.

Employee Payslips Generation (online)

Employees Payslip Generation software generates payslips automatically and sends to the official email Id’s of all employees of the university.

Online File Tracking System (Administration)

“e-sanchika” is software developed by the computer centre for tracking files online. It take care how files are sent from one section to another. It enables monitoring by the superiors for good governance. Employee enters the file details and to address in the software and sends the file physically to the recipient. At present physical copy also is needed to be sent. In future it is being planned to eliminate physical copy of the files. It would facilitate paper free office maintenance in future.

Student information/data maintenance

Every Year almost 60,000 students join in different courses in the university and affiliated colleges. This data is saved in central server maintained by the computer centre. This data can be used for statistical analysis. The data can be used to extract knowledge and assess the quality of students and for various other purposes. The data can also be used to prepare reports asked by the UGC and state higher education council and different government agencies.

Pre and post exam data processing

In pre examination different tasks are to be done, like registered number assignment to new students, student data correction, hall ticket generation, nominal rolls and S.E.F.’s preparations and etc. In post examinations process tasks are encoding exam papers and marks entry after valuation of the answer papers. After evaluation result processing and result publishing in “aucoe” portal are performed by the computer center.

Library automation

The Library has huge collection of books apart from important journals, microfilms, paper and palm leaf manuscript to serve students in university. It is offering 14 hours (8.00 A.M. to 10.00 P.M.) of internet browsing facility for all its users. Access to e-journals is also made available to the campus academic community through UGC “infonet SOUL software” programme. The library information server maintenance, Software management and Network maintenance are the main responsibilities of computer center.

Apart from the above services computer centre also takes care about Network Hardware Support, Network maintenance, Internet connectivity and bandwidth maintenance, Anti-virus updates/installation in campus colleges, Network security and authentication services.

Under the guidance of Honorable Vice-Chancellor Prof.G.Nageswara Rao a committed and a great visionary and the Dynamic Registrar prof. V.Umamaheswara Rao the facilities of "aucoe" portal extended in the month of may 2017 to pay course fees online by the students of all the university constituted colleges. The university has an official web site "andhrauniversity.edu.in" which is almost static. Soon we are going to host the most standard and dynamic web site. End of June 2017 we planned to install 175 CC surveillance cameras in the most of areas in the university. We also planned to setup Fingerprint/Bio-metric attendance system to all the students in the university soon.

Objectives of Computer centre in coming few years:

• To provide secure administrative computing services to the staff and students from the Internet.
• To provide a central computing facility with Network Server for all the students and staff of the University.
• Ease of Maintenance Centrally for the Administrator across the Campus including Internet and allied services.
• Acquiring IT consultancy projects to make revenue to the computer center.
• Upgrading from unmanaged networks to total managed network for easy administration.
• To provide complete campus Wi-Fi.
• Developing more application software’s for smooth for administrative works.
