Keeping in view the pervasive nature and impact of data analytics and cyber security on all walks of life - economic and social, Government of India (specifically NASSCOM & MeitY) has identified Information Security and Data Analytics as the thrust areas for launching various development programs. Availability of right kind of qualified and well trained human resources, who could develop indigenous solutions / software, secure and maintain various systems including critical infrastructure and take up Research & Development (R&D) related to cyber security and data analytics is need of the hour.NASSCOM in collaboration with Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) conducted series of faculty training programs for various Engineering Colleges with an aim to enrich course curriculum with industry orientation for better employability of graduates in these specializations.

Andhra University partnered in this initiative to produce skilled youth by revising the course curriculum to include more subjects on Information/ cyber security and data analytics and set up this center to promote skill development among the teachers and students. The Centre for Cyber Security and Data Analytics is a facility set up in Andhra University in October, 2016 for conducting training programs, and workshops with hands-on experience. The centre has 30 clients and a server connected in LAN with appropriate software in support of cyber security and data analytics. Prof M.Shashi and Prof V.Valli Kumari are nominated as coordinators for this centre. This Centre aims at providing additional knowledge on contemporary issues, challenges and practices related to Information Security to Under Graduate and Post Graduate students of Engineering, employees of IT Industries and research scholars working on Data Analytics and Information Security related topics.
