PROFILE

Centre for nanotechnology is a part of the engineering at AUCE(A),Andhra University and it offers courses to pursue Masters and Doctoral levels in stream of nanotechnology. Centre for Nanotechnology is established in the year 1997. Andhra University College of Engineering (A) possesses a vision to foster the development of research and education in the cutting edge technologies, multi-disciplinary, trans-disciplinary all Inter-disciplinary areas like nanotechnology by developing human resources gifted with leading-edge competitive technologies required for meeting the future challenges and augmenting academic partnerships with industry. The faculty of the Centre, drawn from different departments, is involved in developing state-of-the-art facilities at the institute and is actively involved in research in the area of nanotechnology. The Infrastructure development in the Centre is started with year 2017, with the support of IIT upgradation funds tune of two Crores.This centre is also supported with the Centre of Excellence (CoE)in the year 2012 with the support of five Crores. This centre is established under TEQIP Phase II CoE (Centre of Excellence) entitled“Challenges of Nanotechnology for 21st Century Generation: Indian perspective in global scenario” in the year 2012 with the following thematic areas:

  • Nano lubricants, Machining& Thin films
  • Nano Composites
  • PEM Fuel Cells


VISION



To create, establish and sustain a Nanoscience and technology centre under Centre of Excellence at AUCE (A), AU to educate needs of leading people.



MISSION



A truly multi ideas, Inter disciplinary, character involving departments of Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Metallurgical Engineering, Electrical Communication Engineering for research & development in both conventional, Advanced,Smart and Nano-materials, thin films & device applications.

To create an experimental infrastructure, faculty-student impact and a high quality of scientific and technological output, among the best in the country and the world within the first five years.



SHORT TERM GOALS


  • A Proper tracking mechanism will be developed for more R & D activities, Publications and Patents. The Industry-Academia Collaborations at National and International level will be increased.

  • The Industry-Academia Collaborations at National and International level will be increased.



    LONG TERM GOALS



    • Establishment of Incubation Center.

    • Commercialization of Patents.

    • Improving the performance of the PEM Fuel Cell by using less platinum catalyst

    • Delivering the commercial product of 1 KW PEM Fuel cell.
