Aspirants of Ph.D. Program may even choose A. U. TDR - HUB to pursue their doctoral research. However, admissions are allowed only through A.P.R-CET centralised counselling along with departmental admissions of the University.
On successful completion of the Doctoral research under A.U. TDR - HUB, the candidate will be awarded Ph.D. Degree by Andhra University Under the faculty in which the Scholar pursued his / her Masters Degree.
AU TRANS-DISCIPLINARY RESEARCH HUB (A.U. TDR-HUB)
ADMISSION PROCESS & ELIGIBILITY:
4.1 Regular Category (Part-time):
Aspirants of Ph.D. Program may even choose A. U. TDR - HUB to pursue their doctoral research. However admissions are allowed only through A.P.R-CET centralised counselling, which is conducted by Andhra Pradesh State Council for Higher Education (APSCHE) along with departmental admissions of the University
Interviews will be conducted for the candidates qualified in the Entrance Examination conducted by APSCHE. Based on the scores in the Entrance examination, followed by interview, candidate will be given a 'rank'. During web options, candidate may opt for a seat under Transdisciplinary Research Hub at Andhra University (AU TDR-HUB).
Schedule of written test, interviews, conduct of written test , interviews subject wise by respective universities will be taken-up by APSCHE.
4.1.1 Eligibility:
Candidates who meet the minimum admission requirements outlined below are eligible to pursue a Ph.D. in various faculties including Science, Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Fine Arts, Education, Physical Education, Commerce and Management Studies, Engineering, Law, and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
(a) Every candidate seeking admission into PhD under A.U. TDR-HUB must qualify himself/herself in A.P. R-CET except those working as regular faculty in Andhra university, Project fellows working in a project in Andhra university/Recognised Research Centres, Extramural candidates and all national fellowship holders
(b) Post-graduate degree holders with at least 55% of marks (50% in the case of SC/ST, specially abled candidates) or equivalent grade/CGPA in the subject concerned or in an allied subject, or any other P.G. degree recognised by the University as equivalent thereto are eligible for applying for Ph.D. programme.
(c) Admissions into Ph.D. programme will be made within the framework of reservation rules in force prescribed by the Government of Andhra Pradesh from time to time. And as per the notification issued by UGC-2022.
(d) Any candidate who wants to pursue Ph.D. should have at least one guide who is given the eligibility of guideship by Andhra University to supervise the work
The candidates satisfying the above eligibility criteria, after getting qualified in A.P. R-CET, can register for part-time Ph.D. programme A.U. TDR-HUB of Andhra University as per the following order of priority along with service seniority in the respective category
(a). Regular Faculty working in the University.
(b). (i) Faculty working in Post graduate and Professional colleges with a minimum service of two years.
(ii) Faculty / Librarians / Asst. Librarians working in affiliated degree / PG colleges and Faculty teaching physics, chemistry, mathematics and humanities in professional colleges, with a minimum service of three years.
(ii) Faculty working in Polytechnic / Government or Private aided Junior Colleges with at least four years of service.
(c). Technical employees working in affiliated colleges of Andhra University / NonTeaching employees of Andhra University, with at least five years of service.
4.2 Executive Category:
25% extra seats are allocated for Executives / Administrators having completed at least 5 years of service, out of which at least two years with requisite qualifications in Govt./ Quasi Govt./ Legal / Public sector organisations / Public Ltd. / Private Limited companies with a turnover of 20 crores minimum
Those who have been working in a reputed industry or in a reputed public/private organisation for more than five years with the eligibility criteria as per 4.1.1 can reach the AU TDR-HUB directly for admission into doctoral research under Executive Category
4.2.1 Detailed Admission Procedure for the Ph.D. Programme under A.U. TDR-HUB, Executive Category
- Submission of Application: The application for the PhD programme needs to be submitted by the prospective candidate to the Office of the Dean, A.U. TDR-HUB. It is important to ensure that all the required documents, such as academic transcripts and a no-objection certificate from the present employer, are included.
- Verification & Forwarding of Application: The application and supporting documents will be carefully verified by the Office of the Dean to check the candidate's educational qualifications & work experience. If the eligibility criteria are met by the candidate, a Note summarising the application and eligibility details will be prepared by the Office of the Dean to place before the scrutiny committee by the name Admission-Application Review Committee (T-ARC). This Note serves as a formal document that outlines the candidate's suitability for the PhD Programme.
- Review / Scrutiny: The TDR-HUB Admission-Application Review Committee (T-ARC) is composed of the Dean of A.U. TDR-HUB as Convenor, the Dean, R & D, the relevant Subject Expert, one Faculty Member from the respective Department/constituent College, and one Member from the A.U. TDR-HUB Board as members. This committee shall assess and scrutinise the candidate's application and supporting documents to provide their evaluation and recommendations.
- Approval Process: Once the comments and signatures are received from T-ARC, confirming the eligibility of the candidate for admission, the office of the Dean, A.U. TDR-HUB prepares a Note Order, and it shall undergo further approval by the Registrar and the Vice-Chancellor.
- Admission Proceedings: After the Vice-Chancellor approves the Note Order, the candidate will receive the admission proceedings from the Dean of A.U. TDR-HUB. This document outlines the next steps the candidate needs to take in order to secure their admission.
- Joining through the Directorate of Admissions (DoA): In receipt of the admission proceedings, the candidate is required to join the Ph.D. Programme through the Directorate of Admissions (DoA). This process entails completing the necessary formalities, such as paying the prescribed fee and submitting any additional required documents, including Transfer/Migration Certificate.
- Allotment Order: Upon successful completion of the joining formalities, the candidate will receive an allotment order. This order serves as the official confirmation of admission into the PhD. Programme under the Executive Category at A.U. TDR-HUB.
- The admission under Executive Category is available to individuals who hold a Post Graduate Degree and who are employed in the executive cadre with a minimum of five years of experience in Government/Public organisations or Private industries/organisations. For Private industries/organisations, it is required to have a minimum annual turnover of 20 crores.
- Prospective candidates are advised to thoroughly verify the eligibility criteria before submitting their application and ensure that they possess the necessary documents, including the no-objection certificate from their present employer. Eligibility for the Executive Category:
Note: Once admission is confirmed in any category, the candidate should sign up and register in the online portal of the AU TDR-HUB. All the updates and progress of the candidate can be found from time to time in the same portal in the Scholars login.
5. RECOGNITION OF RESEARCH SUPERVISOR / RESEARCH GUIDE:
Allocation of Research Supervisor.- Eligibility criteria to be a Research Supervisor, Co-Supervisor, Number of Ph.D. scholars permissible per supervisor, etc.
(1.)Any permanent faculty member who is ratified and working as Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor with a Ph.D Degree in an affiliated college with at least two research publications in peer-reviewed or refereed journals (after obtaining PhD Degree) shall be recognised as a Research Supervisor.
(2) Such recognised research supervisors cannot supervise research scholars in other institutions, where they can only act as co-supervisors. Ph.D. awarded by a university under the supervision of a faculty member who is not an employee of the university or its affiliated Professional Colleges/institutes would be in violation of these Regulations
For Ph.D. holders working in Central government/ State government research institutions whose degrees are given by Higher Educational Institutions, the scientists in such research institutions who are equivalent to Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor can be recognised as supervisors if they fulfil the above requirements.
Provided that in areas/disciplines where there is no, or only a limited number of peerreviewed or refereed journals, A.U. TDR-HUB may relax the above condition for recognition of a person as Research Supervisor with reasons recorded in writing. Co-Supervisors from within the same department or other departments of the same institution or other institutions may be permitted with the approval of TRC.
Adjunct Faculty members shall not act as Research Supervisors and can only act as cosupervisors. In case of interdisciplinary/multidisciplinary research work, if required, a CoPage 9 of 24 Supervisor from outside the Department/School/Centre/College/University may be appointed.
(3) An eligible Professor/AssociateProfessor/Assistant Professor can guide up to eight(8) / six(6) / four(4) Ph.D. scholars, respectively, at any given time.
(4) Faculty members with less than three years of service before superannuation shall not be allowed to take new research scholars under their supervision. However, such faculty members can continue to supervise Ph.D. scholars who have already registered until superannuation and as a co-supervisor after superannuation, but not after attaining the age of 70 years.
All the university teachers who hold experience in research guidance attain the eligibility of guiding research scholars under AU TDR-HUB. Only full-time regular teachers of the University with a minimum of five years of teaching / research experience can act as a supervisor.
Note: Once after attaining the guideship, the supervisor should sign up and register in the online portal of the AU TDR-HUB. All the updates and progress of the scholars can be found from time to time in the same portal in the Guide login.
6. RESEARCH GUIDE ALLOCATION:
The allocation of a Research Supervisor for a selected research scholar shall be decided by the Sub-committee / dean of AU TDR-HUB depending on the number of scholars registered under each Research Supervisor, the available specialisation among the Supervisors and the research interest of the scholars as indicated by them at the time of interview.
The office of the Dean, A.U. TDR-HUB shall issue the proceedings of Guide allocation after the approval of the Note order by the Hon'ble Vice-chancellor.
However, the candidate may put up a request to Dean, AU TDR-HUB, with a request for any specific Research Supervisor based on his / her expertise in a specific field of research. On the request of the candidate and after verifying the number of existing scholars under the proposed supervisor, the office of the Dean, A.U. TDR-HUB may or may not consider the request.
On receiving the request, Dean, A.U. TDR-HUB may write to the concerned research supervisor for his / her consent towards guiding the research scholar. On receiving the consent from the Research Supervisor, the office of the Dean, A.U. TDR-HUB shall put-up a note order for approval before issuing the proceedings of Guide allocation.
