Prof. P. Mallikarjuna Rao

Mallikarjuna Rao Pasumarthi - a teacher, researcher, consultant and academic administrator- specialized in the field of Electrical Engineering. He began his academic career as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, GITAM, Visakhapatnam in October 1996. Moved to Department of Electrical Engineering, AU College of Engineering(A), Andhra University, Visakhapatnam as Associate Professor in September 2006 as Associate Professor, raised to Professor in April 2008.

On date, in addition as Head- Department of Electrical Engineering, he served the university as Convener, AU-APSSDC Centre of Excellence, Co-ordinator, Electrical Works of AU, Nodal Officer-Visversvaraya PhD Scheme, SPOC -AICTE NISP, SAMSUNG PRISM, AU Space Research Program, Mentor - GITA- AU Tech Talks, Convener, AU Innovation Council, Institute Innovation Ambassador, Member of University level NAAC steering committee, Central & Institutional Purchase committees, Building committee.

Being a teacher and mentor of research over the last 25 years of service with Andhra University, Dr. Mallikarjuna Rao has guided 14 Doctorate, 51 Masters dissertations and resulting contributions have attracted the industry counterpart. Authored more than 146 research papers of which a majority are in International journals of high repute and titled Best Paper awards. It is also to mention that research results have been adopted for implementation in national level research organizations. He has delivered lectures/invited talks on various platforms including DMEO- NITI AAYOG. He is also mentoring two start-ups in AUIC (TARAMANDAL, eN tEE Technorama)

Prof. Mallikarjuna Rao received, among few other recognitions, Best Faculty award from Andhra University in 2014 for his humble contributions. Having completed around ten significant consultancy/research & development projects mainly with DRDO, his contributions such as development of PMBLDC Machines, EM Launching systems to Defence research are well appreciated by the clients wherein, many of them developed for the first time indigenously in INDIA.

As part of technological outreach, Mallikarjuna Rao is serving as a member in the Executive Board, Project Monitoring & Review Committees, selection committees and advisory committees of DRDO, Power sector organizations, Academic Institutions, Government departments, mentoring start-ups etc., All through his career, he is identified for his technical and engineering contributions as a researcher in the areas of Control Engineering, Smart Machines, Sensors-Controllers- Actuators and Related Technologies and as an academician at various capacities while maintaining a useful research output in terms of technology transfer to clients.
