PROFILE

Dr. Kasukurthi Venkata Rao, a Professor in the department of Computer Science and Systems Engineering, is currently the head of the largest department in the University. He holds vast teaching experience spanning 28+ years. He is one of the first generation under graduates in Computer Science and Engineering discipline which was introduced in early 1980's in India. He is an acclaimed teacher among generations of students whom he has taught with his holistic knowledge in the subject combined with his innate pedagogical skills.

Dr. Rao 's research potential is noteworthy with 30 scholars under his able guidance of whom ten scholars have been awarded their PhD degrees and the remaining are at different stages of their completion of the work. He mentors quite a good number of students year after year by extending his guidance for successful completion of their academic projects at UG/PG level. He has to his credit about seventy five research publications in peer reviewed national/international journals. His research interests are mainly focused on medical image processing, image analysis, networks and security related issues using the state of the art machine learning technologies. To add impetus to his academic credentials he has undergone training for the quality improvement in education at NIT-W, XIME-B, JNTUA, Infosys, and IIM-Indore etc. He also delivered guest lectures at reputed institutions and chaired the sessions of Seminars/conferences

The university has picked Dr. Rao from time to time to hold several administrative positions due to his critical thinking, strategic planning and leadership qualities. He has held several positions like Web Master, Director of Computer Center, Dean of Academic Affairs, Chief Warden for Boys hostels under A U Engineering College and others.

Dr. Rao has been nominated to hold important administrative positions in the state government and other bodies such as Deputy Project Director (RUSA) under AP State Project Directorate, Chairman, Teacher's Mutually Aided Cooperative Society(TMACS) Limited , AU.

Several state/national level academic institutions have utilized Dr. Rao's services by including him in their policy making bodies like Academic Senate, Boards of Studies and others. He has extended his teaching services to Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy (IIPE), Visakhapatnam as an expert Professor in computer science related subjects.

Being a health and fitness conscious person Prof. Rao is quite involved in physical fitness activities and leads All India Tae Kwon Do Association in his capacity as General Secretary. He holds Third Degree(Don) Black Belt in the said martial arts.

In recognition of Dr. Rao 's services to academics, research and administration he has been conferred with several honors like Rashtriya Gaurav Award - 2010, Best Citizens of India Award - 2010 instituted by International Publishing House, New Delhi, Best Faculty Award in 2006 instituted by Infosys.
